With PWM, VSC-HVDC o® ers the possibility to control both active and reactive power independently . While the transmitted active power is kept constant the reactive power controller can automatically control the voltage in the ac-network. Reactive power generation and consumption of a VSC-HVDC converter can be used for compensating the needs of the connected network within the rating of a converter.
