This paper describes the implementation and optimization of H. 264 decoder based on TMS320DM642 DSP platform. Af ter briefly int roducing the hardware system , the procedure of porting the decoder is described that includes the digital signal processing on decoder program based on H. 264 of PC. Then the optimization methods for every decoding module are explained. The experiment result s indicate that comparing with JM74 , the running speed of decoder is increased and the performance of the decoder in real2time applications is good.
