This paper emphasizes the hardware design and realization of video encoding/decoding system. The high performance system based on TMS320DM642 comprises digital video encoder/decoders (TVP5150 & SAA7105) and other important peripheral circuits. The architecture of system and function modules are described, and some solutions are given for the problems according to the practice. In the end, the application foreground and improvement of the system are introduced.
